'Torres is staying at Liverpool'

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has said striker Fernando Torres will not be leaving Anfield.

The Spaniard had a successful first season in the Barclays Premier League following his transfer from Atletico Madrid, scoring 33 goals.

"We would never consider it (selling Torres)" - Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks

His efforts earned him the runner-up spot in the Footballer of the Year award behind Cristiano Ronaldo and he has become one of the most coveted forwards in the game.

Hicks insists the Reds would never contemplate selling Torres.

He said: "We would never consider it."
