Fans hail Madonna at 50
Fans are marking Madonna's imminent 50th birthday by voting on various aspects of her career and sending her congratulatory messages.
Her spokeswoman is keeping tight-lipped about exactly how Madonna will be celebrating but as she hits her half century on Saturday, the queen of pop shows no signs of relinquishing her crown.
The singer has the knack of constant reinvention, from cone corsets, her Sex book and kissing Britney Spears, to becoming a children's author and promoting the controversial sect Kaballah.
According to Guinness World Records, Madonna is the most successful female solo artist, selling around 120 million albums and 40 million singles.
Not one to be accused of slowing down, the super-fit singer is preparing for her Sticky And Sweet world tour.
Meanwhile, a new poll of more than 1,200 Madonna fans heralded Like A Prayer as the best song of her career. The album of the same name also topped the poll as Madonna's best.
Almost three quarters (73 per cent) of those polled believed Madonna's marriage to Guy Ritchie, which has been the subject of frenzied media speculation, stands a chance.
But Madonna's ex-husband Sean Penn was voted equal first (40 per cent) with Ritchie by fans as her ultimate soul mate.
Of all her fashion moments, the golden cone corset was voted as the best outfit to date, beating her 1980s Marilyn Monroe look.
As she enters her 50s, fans are most keen for Madonna to continue releasing albums (30 per cent), followed by writing her autobiography (23 per cent) and a significant number (15 per cent) want her to produce Madonna the Musical.
