More than 50,000 music fans have enjoyed the first of the summer's major festivals seeing classic rockers The Police and one-time rebels the Sex Pistols.
The announcement of The Police as the headline act for The Isle of Wight Festival follows a string of top acts in recent years including The Rolling Stones, The Who, Coldplay, REM and David Bowie.
The festival has also had a major green push with attendees encouraged to do the right thing by the environment
Other newer and younger acts at this year's event include Kaiser Chiefs, American hip-hop group N.E.R.D., Kate Nash, the Zutons and the Kooks.
Other classic names appearing include Ian Brown and Iggy and the Stooges.
