Tevez registers with United
Carlos Tevez has been registered as a Manchester United player after a summer of complicated negotiations.
The issue of Tevez's registration has been resolved and the Argentina international moves to Old Trafford from West Ham.
But United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said he will not pick Tevez to play against Reading in the club's opening Premier League fixture.
Tevez is expected to make his first appearance for the club in the derby game against Manchester City on August 19.
Ferguson added: "It is completely understandable the Premier League want to scrutinise every detail.
"I am happy with that because then we know we are getting a player in the right circumstances, with everything clarified and cleared by the appropriate authorities."
Meanwhile Sir Alex has reassured Gabriel Heinze he has a future at United.
The Argentina defender is keen to leave Old Trafford but United have blocked a move to Liverpool.
Heinze still hopes to force the transfer through by taking his case to a Premier League arbitration panel.
Ferguson said: "Nothing has moved as far as Gaby is concerned. We have a meeting on August 20 which will settle the issue once and for all.
"We think our case is strong, we are depending on that and if it goes our way Gaby definitely has a future here. He still has another two years left on his contract."
