Murder probe launched at beauty spot
Police are treating the death of a man found at a seaside beauty spot as murder and are appealing for witnesses.
The man, aged in his late 20s, was discovered at Par beach, Cornwall, at 9.30pm on Saturday.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske but died a short time later, according to Devon and Cornwall Police.
A spokesman said a 20-year-old was later arrested in the St Austell area.
Police launched a murder inquiry and officers carried out house-to-house inquiries.
The spokesman said that the victim had not yet been formally identified.
A 16-year-old girl was also arrested in the St Austell area in connection with the death.
Det Supt Steve Carey said: "The inquiry into this man's death is at an early stage and, although we have someone in custody, we are still keen to speak to anyone who has information for us.
"In particular we want to talk to anyone who may have seen a violent altercation near a bench between the beach and the holiday village sometime before 9.30pm on Saturday night."
