Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is due to report to police later to help them with their inquiries over an alleged assault.

It is believed to be in relation to an incident earlier this week outside a London club after the 24-year-old Rehab singer had spent a night out with a bandmate of Pete Doherty's Babyshambles.

Reports suggest she will attend Kentish Town police station in north London on Friday afternoon after allegations she headbutted a man who hailed her a taxi. She is also alleged to have punched a second person in the face.

A spokesman for the singer said: "Amy Winehouse will be voluntarily attending a London police station today by appointment with the police. We understand that she will be questioned in connection with an alleged incident in Camden in the early hours of April 23, 2008."

Earlier, the singer - who is now worth £10 million according to the Sunday Times Rich List - failed to turn up at a court appearance for her husband Blake Fielder-Civil. He is charged with assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, which he denies.

At the hearing, the 25-year-old's time in custody was extended and a provisional trial date was set down for June 2 at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Along with Fielder-Civil and King, three other men face charges in connection with the case: Michael Brown, 25, of Durand Close, Carshalton, Surrey; Anthony Kelly, 25, of Constable House, Chalk Farm, north London; and James Kennedy, 19, of The Holdings, Hatfield, Hertfordshire.
