Updated 13.25 Mon Jun 09 2008
Blackburn chairman John Williams has refused to confirm whether Alan Shearer is in the running to become the club's manager.
Reports have suggested Shearer would be interested in signing for the club he helped to win the Premier League title in 1995.
"There is over 40 names on the list" - John Williams
The Blackburn board have held a meeting to discuss who they will appoint but Williams did not confirm who is being considered.
He said: "We're having a meeting to consider the candidate list. There are lots of very interesting applicants.
"I would hope that we would have something within a week to ten days.
"There is over 40 names on the list and everybody that has shown interest in the job needs consideration."
