Surrey have been relegated from Division One of the LV County Championship.

The Brown Caps are winless in the top flight this season and have long looked destined to drop down after two terms out of the second division.

They started the current round of matches 16 points adrift of Yorkshire and Lancashire and the allocation of bonus points across the three matches means they now no longer have a mathematical chance of staying up.

Survival was already a long shot at best, given that the Red and White Rose counties each have a game in hand on The Oval side, but Surrey's focus will now centre on trying to claim a first win of the season against Nottinghamshire.
