Dennis hints Alonso was sacked

McLaren have not denied reports claiming Fernando Alonso was sacked.

The team announced last week the two parties had agreed a "mutual parting of the ways" but reports suggest Alonso was fired.

"We are a team, and if someone does not want to play his team role, then he should not be part of the team."

McLaren have refused to comment on reports suggesting Alonso's contract was terminated because he broke guidelines about team equality and driver behaviour.

However, team boss Dennis has hinted there may be some truth in the rumours.

He said: "We are a team, and if someone does not want to play his team role, then he should not be part of the team."

Meanwhile other reports claim Alonso has been warned by McLaren that he could face legal action should he continue with his public tirade against Dennis and his former team.
