Uefa officials are being urged to kick Serbia out of the European Under-21 football Championships in Holland by former England striker Les Ferdinand.

European football's governining body had to intervene to stop Serbia fans chanting at England defender Nedum Onuoha on Sunday.

"The best outcome would be if they got chucked out of the tournament now. Nothing really will change unless they hand out a punishment to fit the crime" - Les Ferdinand

And the Football Association has also filed a complaint over abuse England players suffered from their opponents in the tunnel after the final whistle.

Uefa is not scheduled to deal with the issue until July 12 at a meeting of their control and disciplinary body.

But Ferdinand, cousin of England Under-21 defender Anton, said: "The best outcome would be if they got chucked out of the tournament now. Nothing really will change unless they hand out a punishment to fit the crime.

"Every now and again racism rears its ugly head and unless there's some real drastic action taken against it, it will continue to do so. Serbia topped their group in the competition and to chuck them out would have a major impact."
