Johnny sets wedding date

Hollywood star Johnny Depp is reportedly planning to tie the knot with long term girlfriend Vanessa Paradis in the summer.

The couple are expected to marry in a chapel within the 50-acre grounds of their home in the village of Plan de la Tour, about an hour from St Tropez in the south of France.

The move comes after their seven-year-old daughter Lily Rose was recently taken ill.

She is thought to have spent nine days in hospital after suffering from E coli food poisoning.

Filming on Depp's latest movie Sweeney Todd was halted so he could keep a vigil at his daughter's bedside.

He said: "It gave us a great scare. What got us through this wasn't the strength of Vanessa or me but our daughter and her incredible ability to make us feel OK even though she was very unwell. She was super-strong."

Depp went on: "It was a very bumpy patch but she has come through it beautifully and unscathed and she is now as healthy as she always was. She is wonderful.

"It was a reminder to us of how to breathe, walk, talk, think and surround ourselves with people we love."
