Lewis Hamilton has clinched pole position for the German Grand Prix.

The McLaren driver was 0.2 seconds faster than Ferrari's Felipe Massa in qualifying at Hockenheim and Hamilton's team-mate Heikki Kovalainen was third fastest.

"I feel we have the pace so we will keep on pushing" - Lewis Hamilton

Hamilton, Massa and the reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen are currently level at the top of the drivers championship.

But Hamilton has been in good form all weekend.

He said: "I feel pretty chilled and happy with what we've done so far, but it's tomorrow that counts and when Heikki and I have to do the best job possible.

"I feel we have the pace so we will keep on pushing."

Raikkonen will start from sixth place on the grid, but Massa believes the pit stop strategy will bring McLaren and both Ferrari's to the fore.

He said: "We don't know how much fuel everybody has but it is competitive between Ferrari and McLaren, so the race will be a big competition.

"That's potentially very exciting, but we have to do everything right in the race."
