The father of Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh has dismissed reports that the group are on the verge of splitting.

Rumours have been rife in the press that the girls will call it a day after their UK arena tour ends in May, but Kimberley's dad John cast aside the claims as "utter nonsense".

He said: "It's just a fantasy. The national papers put this story out every now and again but it is just utter nonsense. To be honest, Kimberley gets sick to death of reading them."

It was reported that some of the girls wanted to try solo singing careers while Kimberley planned to go into TV.

John said that the band may have a few weeks off - but that won't be till the end of the year.

Kimberley, 26, returned to Bradford over Christmas and spent the New Year's Eve festivities in New York.
