Denzel 'honoured' by Golden Globe nod
Denzel Washington has said he's honoured that his new film The Great Debaters received a Golden Globe nomination.
The American Gangster star was in New York with co-star Forest Whitaker for the premiere of the film at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City.
Washington said of the film's buzz: "It's all good. It's all gravy at this point. I'm just happy that people are responding well to the film, that we got a Golden Globe nomination which helps the momentum towards the Oscars and we'll see what happens."
The Great Debaters is the second film Washington has directed, following his 2002 debut, Antwon Fisher.
It tells the true story of professor Melvin Tolson (Washington), a controversial debate team coach who leads a group of African-American students to national victory.
The film opens in the US on Christmas Day.
