The troubled rocker was stopped in a car in central London on Saturday night and taken to a police station before being bailed.

The 28-year-old has appeared in court on a number of drug offences over the past six months and was praised in April by a District Judge Jane McIvor for "more than co-operating" in his struggle to beat his addiction to hard substances.

When the Babyshambles frontman appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court in east London for a review of a drug treatment order, he told the court: "The people I'm closest to have had enough. They've said it's drugs or them."

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "About 10pm on (Saturday) police stopped a vehicle in Kensington High Street.

"The 28-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug. He was taken to a West London police station and subsequently bailed to return on a date in June."
