West Indies save follow-on

West Indies saved the follow-on against England after a spirited fightback on the third day of the first Test at Lord's.

At the close West Indies were 363-7 in reply to England's 553-5 declared with Shivnarine Chanderpaul unbeaten on 63.

Dawyne Bravo earlier struck 56 from 59 balls, sharing a sixth-wicket partnership of 92 in 76 balls with Chanderpaul while wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin scored an enterprising 60.

England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar took 4-108, including three lbws.

Yorkshire fast bowler Matthew Hoggard, meanwhile, has become a father for the first time.

His wife Sarah gave birth to a baby boy, Ernie, weighing 7lbs 10oz, in Yorkshire overnight.
