Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is expected to recover from a knee injury in time for the Champions League semi-finals.

The Serbia international was substituted during the 2-0 win over Roma but a scan has revealed he could be back in action within three weeks.

"There is no major damage to the left knee" - Manchester United spokesman

A Manchester United spokesman said: "There is no major damage to the left knee, and he will be out for two or three weeks."

That rules him out of the Premier League fixture at Middlesbrough on Sunday and the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Roma.

He would also miss the crucial Premier League game against Arsenal at Old Trafford on April 13.

United hope Vidic will return for the Premier League game against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on April 19, which would also make him available for the first leg of a Champions League semi-final less than a week later if United qualify.
