A website which encourages young girls to embrace plastic surgery in the search for the perfect figure has been condemned by childcare experts.

The Miss Bimbo internet game also promotes extreme dieting to girls as young as nine.

In the game, players must compete against other children to create the "coolest, richest and most famous bimbo in the world". Girls are told to buy their virtual characters diet pills and breast enlargement surgery to be successful.

The website was first set up in France, where it attracted 1.2million users, by Frenchman Nicholas Jacquart. He has since moved to south London and is now promoting the site in Britain.

Bill Hibberd, a spokesman for Parentkind, said: "Children's innocence should be protected as far as possible.

"The danger is that a nine-year-old girl fails to appreciate the irony and sees the bimbo as a cool role model. Then the game becomes a hazard and a menace."
