Gilchrist announces retirement
Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has shocked the cricket world by announcing his retirement.
The vice-captain will end his Test career after the current clash with India in Adelaide.
Gilchrist will bring his one-day career to a close after the forthcoming triangular series against India and Sri Lanka, he said in a statement.
The news came after Gilchrist claimed a world record 414th Test dismissal while helping to bowl out India on day two of the fourth Test at the Adelaide Oval.
The 36-year-old says he wants to spend more time with his wife and three children.
The left-hander, who has played 96 Tests for Australia, said: "I've come to this decision after much thought and discussion with those most important to me."
