Big Brother host Davina McCall is to make a cameo appearance in a new zombie horror series.

She plays herself in the forthcoming five-part E4 show Dead Set.

The thriller is set in a fictional Big Brother house which is increasingly under threat from the blood-thirsty masses.

Charlie Brooker, the writer, said the show starts on an eviction night and having McCall involved was logical.

He added: "I thought it was going to be a really big ask but we literally asked and she said yes."

When asked to explain the show, he said: "Think 24 with zombies. And housemates. And gore."

Dead Set also stars Jaime Winstone as production runner Kelly working on the fictional series of Big Brother.

Former Big Brother housemates also make cameo appearances.

Dead Set will be broadcast this month.
