Real admit Fabregas interest

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is keen to sign Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal.

Calderon is keen to increase the number of Spanish players in the Real squad and Fabregas has been outstanding in the Premier League.

"It has to be the player who makes the first step" - Ramon Calderon

But Arsenal would not welcome any bid for their players and Calderon has admitted a deal is only possible if Fabregas makes it clear he is interested in joining Real.

Calderon said: "Every coach likes him but my policy is that it has to be the player who makes the first step for the signing because we don't want conflicts with any team.

"Something nice about Cesc is that he is Spanish and this is one of my objectives, to make Real Madrid more Spanish."

Fabregas would prove very expensive for Real because his Arsenal contract does not expire until 2014 and he has recently discussed an improved deal with the club.
