Paul Collingwood has resigned as captain of England's one-day cricket team, clearing the way for a unified captaincy.

Collingwood took charge of the limited-overs team when Michael Vaughan stood down last year.

Vaughan recommended that his replacement should lead the one-day team as well

But his recent batting form raised questions about his position in both the Test and one-day teams.

Vaughan recommended that his replacement should lead the one-day team as well.

That would appear to rule out Andrew Strauss, who has not played in a one-day international for more than a year.
