Soldier killed in Afghanistan to be named

A British soldier killed in an explosion in Afghanistan is expected to be named later.

The soldier was a member of the 40 Commando Royal Marines and was taking part in a patrol to disrupt Taliban activity in the southern province of Helmand when the blast took place.

He was a member of the 40 Commando Royal Marines

Another marine suffered minor injuries in the attack and was taken to the British base at Camp Bastion for treatment.

Next of kin have been informed.
