South Africa have beaten Ireland by seven wickets in their Super Eight match at the Cricket World Cup.

The Proteas' all-rounder Jacques Kallis scored his 61st one-day international half-century as he made 66 not out in a game reduced to 35 overs per team by three rain interruptions.

South Africa made the required total with 21 balls to spare

Ireland made 152 for eight and South Africa's victory target was adjusted to 160 by the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Graeme Smith's team made the required total with 21 balls to spare, and for the loss of just three wickets.

Kallis and Smith shared a second-wicket partnership of 70 at a rate of six runs per over, reaching their joint-50 from just 48 balls.

But Ireland captain Trent Johnston claimed some personal success when he caught Smith for 41.
