Paint the town purple with Prince

Updated 14.59 Fri Jul 13 2007

Tickets have gone on sale for the official Prince after-show parties in London.

As if his gruelling tour was not enough work, the singer has decided to host 21 parties right after his concerts in London. They will be held at Indigo2, which is part of the O2 Arena in Greenwich.

The singer's label Sony BMG UK have pulled the plug on its own sales release of the album in Britain.

If the £25 tickets stretch your budget, fans of the Purple Rain star could pick up a free copy of his latest album this weekend in a Sunday newspaper.

While fans may be delighted with the move, some in the music industry are up in arms as retailers are already struggling with a declining demand for CD's.

However, the artist formally known as Prince has his own reasons for deciding to distribute his new music in this way.

The star said: "It's direct marketing. I don't have to be in the speculation business for the music industry which is going through a tumultuous time at the moment."
