Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows has been voted the most spell-binding of the book of the series.

JK Rowling's finale, which broke records after hitting the bookshelves in July, came top of a poll of 45,000 dedicated Potter fans.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows was considered to be the darkest of the books

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban came in second place, followed by Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.

The second novel in the series, Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, came last with just 4 per cent of the vote, although it was a best-seller.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows was considered to be the darkest of the books. It became the fastest-selling book in UK history with 2,652,656 copies selling in its first 24 hours.

The movie version of the book is not expected to hit cinema screens until 2010.
