Clooney denies engagement rumours

George Clooney has denied rumours that he's engaged to longtime girlfriend Sarah Larson.

The Michael Clayton star, who owns a villa in the Italian town of Laglio, was believed to have popped the question to Larson, 28, after a local restaurant worker was quoted as saying: "They haven't made any announcement yet, but there are people in this town who know more than me. They say the couple are already engaged."

But a spokesman for Clooney has been quoted as saying: "(There's) no truth to any element of this story."
