
First acting role for Singer Norah
Singer Norah Jones is set to share her acting skills with the world in her first movie role.
The Grammy-winning artist stars alongside Jude Law in the romantic drama My Blueberry Nights.
The folk star credits an imporvisational approach and a strong supporting cast for helping her get through her first acitng role.
It was also a new experience for Hong kong director Wong Kar Wai, with it being his first English language movie.
Wong relied on improvisation as much as the script in his rich, deeply visual story of losing and finding love filmed across the US.
Speaking of the director, Jones said: "He's a very musical director, he goes by feel and instinct.
"I liked his film-making style. It seemed like the right opportunity to try it with the right person."
Jones stars as Elizabeth, who embarks on a soul searching journey after she catches her boyfriend cheating on her with another woman.
The cast also includes Constantine star Rachel Weisz and Star Wars actress Natalie Portman.
The daughter of Indian sitarist and composer Ravi Shankar, Jones leaped to fame with her debut album Come Away With Me, which won Album of the Year at the 2003 Grammy Awards.
