Juande Ramos is refusing to go in all guns blazing as he bids to kickstart Tottenham Hotspur's season after succeeding Martin Jol.

The 53-year-old Spaniard will take charge of the north Londoners for the first time when Blackpool visit White Hart Lane in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.

"The English league has always been my dream and coaching in England is the realisation of that dream" - Juande Ramos

Sevilla have accused Spurs of "treachery" in their pursuit of Ramos with the Spanish club's president Jose Maria Del Nido warning they will be made to pay for their actions having already confirmed he would report the matter to Fifa and Uefa.

But Ramos is determined to focus on working with assistant Gus Poyet on getting Tottenham back to winning ways, telling reporters: "The English league has always been my dream and coaching in England is the realisation of that dream."

The former Betis, Espanyol and Malaga coach added of his approach with players: "I maintain a friendship with players in all of the teams I have been in. I think that's important."

Ramos is being linked with making possible moves for the Sevilla duo of Daniel Alves and Fredi Kanoute but Del Nido is determinded to hang on to both players.

The Sevilla president said: "I doubt very much that Tottenham have the money to buy them. Tottenham will get the response from Sevilla that they deserve.

"And that response will be to channel all our energy into getting what we deserve after they have behaved the way they have behaved."
