Bikini record set Down Under
Over 1,000 Australian women have slipped into bikinis to break a world record on Bondi beach.
The group, made up of paid models and volunteers, was intent on setting the high-water mark for the biggest-ever swimsuit shoot.
But it was a bad time to go swimming, as the lifeguards cleared out of their seafront headquarters so the women could change into their free bikinis.
Guinness World Records spokesman Chris Sheedy said: "This was certainly one of the more spectacular world records that I've been invited to adjudicate on.
"As an Australian myself, it's logical that any record involving sun, sand and surf should be held in this country."
A total of 1,010 women smashed the previous record of 300.
