Cameras have started rolling on the sixth movie in the Harry Potter series.

A re-united cast and crew started shooting scenes for Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince at Gloucester Cathedral.

The eagerly-anticipated instalment will again feature Daniel Radcliffe as the boy wizard, Alan Rickman, who plays Professor Snape, and Dame Maggie Smith, who plays Professor McGonagall

The eagerly-anticipated instalment will again feature Daniel Radcliffe as the boy wizard, Alan Rickman, who plays Professor Snape, and Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall.

Star-spotters gathered in the city with the hope of catching a glimpse of the cast, but instead were treated to several tents that had been pitched up around the cathedral and neighbouring King's School to keep details of the movie under wraps.

Film-makers chose the 11th century cathedral as the perfect setting for scenes in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

This will be the third time the school and cathedral grounds have been used for the Potter movie series - with The Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets both filmed there.

The sixth instalment sees Harry's arch nemesis Voldemort tighten his grip on the wizarding world, as the young wizard works alongside his mentor and headmaster Professor Dumbledore to bring their enemy's resurgence to an end.

The film is expected to hit UK cinemas on November 21.
