Andy Murray insists he can still develop into a Grand Slam winner despite his disappointing record in the major competitions.

Murray is currently ranked 11th in the world, even though he has never got beyond the fourth round at a Grand Slam.

"I think I am getting there" - Andy Murray

He is the same age as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who have won five Grand Slam titles between them, but Murray points out that the world number one Roger Federer did not make a flying start to his career.

Murray said: "When Federer was 21, he had not won any Grand Slams and was just outside the top ten, and people were saying similar things about him. Some people take a bit longer to develop.

"I have a different game style to guys like Nadal and Djokovic, who play from the baseline and it is a bit easier to learn how to play their style.

"Trying different things takes time to get used to, and physically I have needed to get much stronger over the past couple of years and I have done that. I think I am getting there, it has just not been as fast as some of the other guys."
