England players "take responsibility"
Captain John Terry insists the England players should take "collective responsibility" for the failure to qualify for Euro 2008.
Terry was ruled out of the final qualifier against Croatia through injury but he watched from the stands as his team-mates were beaten 3-2 when a draw would have been enough to send England through.
Terry said: "On behalf of all of the players, we are hugely disappointed with what's happened. To come back to 2-2, we were so close.
"We take collective responsibility. There are many things when you look back on the campaign. It's disappointing for ourselves, our families, the fans and everyone in England.
"It's going to be a huge loss without us there in the Euros. I'm just lost for words at the minute.
"I can't explain the way we are feeling in the dressing room."
