The women's French Open finalists have been found with Russian Dinara Safina to play Ana Ivanovic from Serbia.

Safina won through with a straight-sets win over fellow Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova.

It was the third round in succession that Safina had beaten another Russian

She claimed a 6-2 6-3 victory to reach a Grand Slam final for the first time in her career.

If Safina wins the title, she will emulate the achievement of her older brother Marat Safin, who has won two Grand Slam titles at the US Open and Australian Open.

Ivanovic staved off a stirring fightback by compatriot Jelena Jankovic to reach the final with a 6-4 3-6 6-4 victory and clinch the world number one ranking.

The second seed, and last year's runner-up, led by a set and three games to one, only for Jankovic to level and go ahead three games to one in the decider, before Ivanovic recovered again.

Jankovic twice led by a break in the decider but Ivanovic stormed back to reach her third grand-slam final.
