We're told supermodels eat a lot of it and now designers have been inspired by salad at a fashion show in New York.

The styles looked ready-to-eat at the Wish-Bone Second Annual Summer Salad Fashion Show, which took place inside Grand Central station.

Some of the hottest designs included the Tex Mex Taco Salad and the Red Hot Mama Salad Dress

Most of the creations were made by costume designer Chris March.

Asked about the collection, he said: "What we did this year is we kind of made outfits and we're covering some sections of them with a lot of lettuce."

The finale of the show was an Ambrosia Wedding Salad dress with a Raspberry Bliss bouquet made of salad dressing bottles designed by Richie Rich and Traver Rains of fashion label Heatherette.
