Julia Roberts lands top film prize
Julia Roberts has been the proud winner of the American Cinematheque award at a star-studded event in LA.
The Oscar-winning actress, who presented the accolade to George Clooney last year, was honoured for her contributions to the film industry in front of a crowd which included Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman and Sally Field.
She admitted her launch into Hollywood happened at the right time, saying: "I think I came along at a kinder time in the business.
"It wasn't about fashion, and there weren't so many media outlets, it was just kind of different. You could really cultivate your work a little more gently."
The 39-year-old's film credits include Erin Brockovich, Pretty Woman, Steel Magnolias and Mystic Pizza.
Other notable Cinematheque Award recipients include Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, Sean Connery and Al Pacino.
