Joni Mitchell signs to Starbucks
Legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell has followed in the footsteps of Sir Paul McCartney by signing up to the Starbucks record label.
The album Shine is Mitchell's first album since 1998, and will be released in September through Hear Music - the stable set up by the coffee chain and the Concord Music Group.
She said: "I am thrilled to be able to work with the Hear Music label on my new CD.
"Starbucks and Concord Music Group are joining me in releasing a project which has enabled me to appreciate what I loved about making music in the first place. I am very grateful to them."
She described the album as "the most serious work I've ever done".
McCartney's Memory Almost Full album was released in June, and sold 447,000 copies.
