British soldier killed in Afghanistan

A British soldier has been killed by an explosion in Afghanistan.

The soldier, from B Company 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, was on patrol in the Lashkar Gar area.

His next of kin have been informed.

The soldier was part of a vehicle checkpoint patrol investigating a report of an attack on a civilian aircraft at Bost airfield.

On Friday, another British soldier was killed in a vehicle accident.

The deaths bring to 110 the number of British troops killed since US-led forces invaded Afghanistan.
