Le Bon: 'Diana wolf-whistled me'

Duran Duran star Simon Le Bon has revealed how he was left red-faced after Princess Diana wolf-whistled him at their gym.

The singer said: "She and I used to go to the same fitness club - Chelsea Harbour in London.

"She wolf-whistled at me across the room, and yelled, like a brickie, 'Nice legs! I'd recognise that bum anywhere!'" - Simon Le Bon

"One day I was on the running machine. I jumped off because one of my shoelaces had come undone, and she wolf-whistled at me across the room, and yelled, like a brickie, 'Nice legs! I'd recognise that bum anywhere!'

"I was quite taken aback actually, and quietly got back on the machine with a red face."

Duran Duran is one of the many performers at the Princess's memorial gig to mark the tenth anniversary of her death.

The English National Ballet is also performing on Sunday, while Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber is putting together a musical medley for the concert.

He said: "Whenever I met Princess Diana - and I did meet her on several occasions - all those usual words jumped into my head - grace, poise, elegance and charm.

"But there was something else... something behind her eyes. Something that was difficult to evaluate.

"As a composer of musical theatre and drama, I like to think I'm pretty good at understanding people. But I never really felt that with her. The eyes said something I didn't understand."

Status Quo's Rick Parfitt said he had dinner with the Princess several times after meeting her at Live Aid in 1985.

He said: "There was no stiff upper lip, no airs and graces. It was like she was just the girl next door.

"The language would sometimes get a bit risqué when she was around, but she didn't seem to mind. I always thought of her as one of the lads."
