Man held over Jimmy murder
Police investigating the murder of Jimmy Mizen have arrested a 19-year-old man.
Jimmy died on Saturday morning, the day after his birthday, when he was stabbed
in an "unprovoked and vicious" assault at the Three Cooks bakery in Lee, south-east London on Saturday.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "A 19-year-old man was arrested this afternoon in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Jimmy Mizen.
"He is currently in custody at a London police station."
Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons said officers had gathered CCTV footage and "significant" forensic samples.
Jimmy's family and classmates paid tributes to him on what would have been his last full day at school.
The teenager should have attended a celebratory leavers' Mass at St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive in Eltham, south-east London, before starting revision for his GCSE exams.
Instead the occasion became a tearful service of remembrance for his grieving family and more than 100 of his fellow Year 11 pupils.
Afterwards Jimmy's parents Barry, 56, and Margaret, 55, paid loving tribute to their "saint" of a son and recalled the happy final few days they spent with him.
Mr Mizen, who is deputy chairman of governors at the school, said: "He was a dear, dear, sweet young man, we loved him dearly.
"On the night of his birthday he was going out with his friends and we cuddled him. That is just a great, great memory."
Mrs Mizen said she drew strength from the fact that one of her older sons, 26-year-old Tommy, cradled Jimmy as he lay bleeding to death in the bakery.
The 6ft 4in schoolboy is the 13th teenager to be murdered in London so far this year.
