Vaughan reaches century
Michael Vaughan claimed his 18th Test century as England were bowled out for 319 in the first Test against New Zealand at Lord's.
Vaughan came in at number three when Alastair Cook was caught out and formed steady partnerships with Andrew Strauss, Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood.
Stuart Broad shared a 61-run stand for the seventh wicket, taking England past New Zealand's first innings total of 277, but they only managed to build a lead of 42 runs before they were bowled out.
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori ended the innings with figures of five for 69.
Vaughan was caught out for 106 and now shares the record of six Test centuries at Lord's with Graham Gooch.
At the close of play, New Zealand had reached 40 for no loss in their second innings, leaving them two runs behind.
But time is running out for either team to win the match.
