Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty has outraged Delhi residents after she was pictured in a clinch with Richard Gere at a charity event.

At an Aids awareness function organised in the Indian city on Sunday to benefit truckdrivers, Gere and Shetty spoke to the vulnerable community about the dangers and misconceptions of Aids.

Audience members at an AIDS charity event in Delhi are demanding an apology after Richard Gere gave Shilpa Shetty a passionate embrace on stage.

Gere, apparantly was not content merely to mention that HIV can't be passed on through a kiss on the cheek, so decided to make his point by first kissing Shilpa's hand, then hugging her, kissing her cheek, and finally sweeping the the surprised actress off her feet to give her a big kiss.

While Shetty laughed off the actor's gesture, admitting to the truckdrivers that the clinch was a bit much, the men in the audience seem to have agreed.

It is reported that the audience was offended by the celebrities' behaviour with some sections of the audience apparently asking for an apology from both actors.
