Roger Federer will team up with Bjorn Borg for a doubles match in China later this year and could face a dream left-handed pairing of John McEnroe and Rafael Nadal.

Five-time Wimbledon winners Borg and Federer are confirmed as a Swedish-Swiss team to contest the 10-point doubles tie-break showdown at the BlackRock Tour of Champions event in Macau in November.

McEnroe has also confirmed his participation, and he will partner either Spaniard Nadal or his fellow American James Blake

If the Federer-Borg versus Nadal-McEnroe match does go ahead, it will see the biggest stars - and indeed rivals - of two generations battle it out in a contest that would be worthy of historical status.

Nadal will be available if Spain lose to the United States in their Davis Cup semi-final in September and in the event of a Spanish victory, it will be Blake who teams up with McEnroe.

The Davis Cup final begins the day after the doubles match in China, which will be played after singles matches between Borg and McEnroe and Federer and Nadal or Blake.
