Glastonbury fans to go green

Updated 07.08 Wed May 30 2007

Fans at this summer's Glastonbury Festival are being urged to go green in an attempt to halt climate change, organisers announced.

A series of initiatives will be held during the three-day event to encourage revellers to wash in eco-friendly showers, eat organic food, and use recycled toilet paper.

More than 135,000 people will descend on Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset for the festival from June 22 - 24

Fans will also be invited to join the I Count campaign, which shows people how to reduce their carbon footprint.

Legendary festival organiser Michael Eavis said: "We've put a lot of effort into focusing Glastonbury on the environment and climate change this year.

"We hope to see at least 100,000 new supporters sign up to the I Count campaign - and I'll be the first to put my name down."
