Bartenders from around the globe have flocked to Cuba for the Cocktail Grand Prix.

The tropical island is the birthplace of drinks such as the Mojito, Daiquiri and, of course, the Cuba Libre.

The event, being hosted at the Cuba Havana Club Rum, is divided into two categories: classic and freestyle.

Entrants must create a rum-based concoction in the first section, while the freestyle is all about entertaining the crowd.

The biennial competition is now into its seventh edition.

The host city Havana became one of the world's favourite drinking spots in the 1920s, notably during the United States prohibition that lasted until 1933.
