The German Defence Ministry has said it has no opposition to Tom Cruise shooting his next film in Germany.

The film, Valkyrie, which is about a German aristocrat who was behind a plot to assassinate Hitler, was thought to have upset a Christian group.

They were believed to be unimpressed with the idea of a Scientologist playing the role of Claus von Stauffenberg.

Von Stauffenberg led a group of Nazi officers who planted a bomb under a table in Hitler's eastern headquarters in East Prussia in 1944.
