Manchester City close in on Jo
Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is closing in on Brazilian striker Jo.
The agent of target Jo believes a deal will be reached in the near future to allow the CSKA Moscow striker to move to Eastlands.
It was claimed in a report earlier this week that the 21-year-old - whose full name is Joao Alves de Assis Silva - was set to sign for the Premier League club in a £16 million deal despite recently extending his contract with the Russians to 2011.
His agent Marcelo Djian has now expressed confidence that a move can be agreed, despite apparent differences in the valuation of the player.
He said: "I've made some calls to Russia and they told me there was no formal offer, but I think something will happen. I know CSKA president Evgeny Giner wants £20 million, the release clause to sell Jo."
Eriksson has also been linked with Barcelona striker Ronaldinho, after the player's move to AC Milan appeared to stall.
