Hillary Clinton woos female voters

Hillary Clinton has been courting female support as she works to secure the Democratic Party's Presidential nomination.

According to one opinion poll, the former first lady has got 51 per cent support among all Democrat voters.

She is also ahead of her main rival, Barack Obama, in the key state of New Hampshire.

And that is important because Democratic party members there are traditionally the trail blazers in the January of election year - where New Hampshire leads, other states follow.

Mrs Clinton has unveiled a plan to expand paid family leave, boost child-care funding and fight workplace discrimination against pregnant women.

She says her plan will cost $1.75 billion (£860 million) a year and be paid for by shutting down certain kinds of tax shelters without expanding the deficit.
