Man stabbed to death in south London

Up to five people are being sought by police after a man was stabbed to death at a flat in Kennington, south London.

The 44-year-old black man was found by police at 2.20pm in the property on Paulet Road. An air ambulance was called but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Damian Allain of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, leading the investigation, said: "We believe that up to five suspects attempted to force entry to a property in Paulet Road at approximately 1400.

"Realising this was the wrong address the suspects then gained entry to a second property in Paulet Road, where the murder victim was later found by police."

He said three white men left the scene in the van, one of whom was described as carrying a knife, and a white man and a black man left the scene in the black car.

The victim's next of kin have been informed but police said they are still awaiting formal identification.
