Uefa open Dida probe
Uefa officials have opened disciplinary proceedings against AC Milan and goalkeeper Dida over the incident that marred their Champions League clash at Celtic last week.
The Brazilian was carried off on a stretcher after an incident involving a Celtic fan who ran on to the pitch following Scott McDonald's injury-time winner.
The case against Milan and the player will be heard on Thursday by Uefa's disciplinary committee, which will also make a decision on charges against Celtic on the same day.
The charges against Dida and his club relate to Uefa rules under which "member associations, clubs, as well as their players, officials and members, shall conduct themselves according to the principles of loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship".
Millions watched on TV as 27-year-old Celtic supporter Robert McHendry ran towards Dida, stick out his arm and make contact with the goalie.
The Brazilian briefly chased after the fan but then collapsed theatrically and was later carried from the pitch holding an icepack to his face.
McHendry went to Celtic Football Club the day after the game and told staff he was the person responsible for the incident and was promptly banned for life.
He then handed himself in at a nearby police station where he was charged with causing a breach of the peace and later appeared in court where he admitted the offence. He will be sentenced on November 2.
